This vintage 1970s necklace is studded with marcasite and features a round amethyst gemstone.

Marcasite has energies nearly identical to Pyrite, both offering up vibrations of magnitude and endurance. Both stones assist one with their spiritual journey each day, but Marcasite tends to bring more balance, as well as connect us to the world around us. Marcasite keeps you in the moment and works at a much slower, patient pace, while Pyrite is capable of activating instant soul power and engages your brain rather quickly. Both crystals push one toward achieving happiness and success, but one energy may be more suitable for you than the other.

Amethyst is known as the "Stone of Spirit," it calms, protects, and cleanses the spirit. Amethyst symbolizes humility, sincerity, and spiritual wisdom. The word "amethyst," derives from "amestuthos," an ancient Greek word meaning "not intoxicated." There is a great, ancient Greek, mythological story involving the God of Wine, Bacchus, and a young girl turning into a stone. It is a very interesting tale of how amethyst came to be this beautiful, purple, gemstone and how it got its name.
